- SAFETY & ENVIRONMETAL SUPERVISOR

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
Oversees compliance with OR-OSHA regulations; safety programs at TTU, arranges for or conducts safety training as mandated or needed. Conducts post accident investigations on all injuries / accidents at TTU, providing HR / workers compensation insurance carrier with documentation regarding the incident. 

Maintains and makes modification as needed to TTU emergency contingencies documentation / plans / supplies.  Conducts training drills as needed.  Works with emergency personnel (fire, police, EMT’s ) with regards to emergency response protocols.  Maintains MSDS / HMI records and insures the information is available to all personnel.  Instrumental in environmental issues with disposing of waste generated by TTU’s operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves on the Safety Committee, assist and documents quarterly safety inspections. Insures that quarterly safety inspections are completed on time and records maintained.
Maintains OSHA 300 log and annual reporting.
Serves as chair of the Executive Safety Committee, maintains records of committee actions.
Responsible for insuring TTU safety procedures meet current OR-OSHA requirement
Monitor’s required confined space permits, hot work and LOTO requirements
Conduct / arranges for required OR-OSHA training of all personnel
Assist with maintaining required records for training, testing and certification of personnel.
Assist department managers with safety issues regarding OR-OSHA requirement
Coordinates visits of TTU’s insurance carriers (workers comp & property damage) during inspection / tours

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
Requires being on call for all off hours fire and security incidents.
Works on specialized projects as needed, assigned by senior management.
Schedules annual hearing assessments, schedules safety shoe track.   

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: 
May at times have individuals reporting directly to this position for short periods of time

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
Communicate well with all departments to insure the safety of all employees.   Partners with TTUs WC representative to ensure full understanding of worker’s compensation reporting, rules and guidelines.  

SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS:
Must be able to communicate well in writing and verbally with others.  Leader in new ideas  and improving the culture within the organization.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
A degree or some college required (minimum two years) or specialized experience / training in the safety / environmental field.
Current CPR / AED / First Aid training is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Can be exposed to hazardous situations at times, need to insure one’s personal safety.  Hours work can be varied, due to on call for emergency situations.
